Texas Trash Dip is a quick, easy, and crowd-pleasing snack featuring a creamy blend of cream cheese, shredded cheddar, smoky bacon, and ranch, topped with crunchy crushed tortilla chips and optional jalapeños for a bold, savory flavor. Perfect for parties, game days, or casual gatherings, this warm or chilled dip combines comfort and bold tastes in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Dairy and Creamy Base

  • Cream cheese, 8 oz (softened to room temperature)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, 1 cup
  • Ranch dressing or ranch seasoning mix, 1/4 cup dressing or 2 tbsp seasoning mix

Meat and Vegetables

  • Cooked bacon bits, 1/2 cup (crisply cooked and chopped)
  • Green onions, 2 tablespoons (finely sliced)
  • Optional diced jalapeños, 1-2 tablespoons (for spicy kick)

Toppings

  • Crushed tortilla chips, 1/2 cup (for topping and crunch)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Base: Soften the cream cheese to room temperature to ensure smooth mixing. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese with a hand mixer or whisk until creamy and lump-free.
  2. Mix in Cheddar and Ranch: Fold shredded cheddar cheese and ranch dressing or ranch seasoning into the softened cream cheese, combining until evenly mixed.
  3. Add Bacon and Green Onions: Gently stir in the cooked, crisp bacon bits and finely sliced green onions to add a smoky crunch and fresh bite to the creamy base.
  4. Top with Crushed Chips and Optional Jalapeños: Sprinkle crushed tortilla chips evenly on top to create a crispy layer. If desired, scatter diced jalapeños over the top to add a subtle spicy heat.
  5. Bake or Chill: For warm dip, bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top. Alternatively, refrigerate the dip for at least one hour to let the flavors meld and enjoy chilled.

Notes

  • Use room temperature cream cheese to ensure a smooth, velvety texture.
  • Cook bacon until crisp to avoid soggy texture in the dip.
  • Freshly shred cheddar cheese for better melt and flavor.
  • Let the dip rest chilled or warm for full flavor development.
  • Crush tortilla chips just before serving to keep them crunchy.
