Easy to prepare with simple pantry ingredients, it delivers a warm, flavorful treat perfect for any occasion, whether served warm with ice cream or chilled for a refreshing dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Filling

  • 45 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Crumble Topping

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peach Filling: Peel and slice fresh peaches into even pieces. Toss them in a bowl with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. This mixture helps the peaches release their natural juices while adding warmth and brightness to the filling.
  2. Make the Crumble Topping: In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, ensuring a crisp crumbly texture when baked.
  3. Assemble the Crumble: Pour the peach filling into a greased baking dish and spread out evenly. Generously sprinkle the crumble topping over the peaches, fully covering them to lock in the juices during baking.
  4. Bake Until Golden: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the assembled peach crumble for 40-45 minutes until the peach juices bubble at the edges and the topping is golden-brown and crispy. Allow it to cool slightly before serving so the filling thickens.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm peaches to ensure they hold their shape and do not become mushy during baking.
  • Keep the butter cold to achieve the perfect crumbly and crispy topping.
  • Do not skip the lemon juice; it balances sweetness and prevents the peaches from browning.
  • Add spices gradually to complement, not overpower, the peach flavor.
  • Let the crumble rest before serving to thicken the filling and meld flavors.
