Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 24 Classic Oreo sandwich cookies
  • 8 oz (225 g) softened cream cheese

Coating & Decorations

  • 12 oz (340 g) green candy melts
  • Red sugar sprinkles, for garnish
  • Miniature pretzel sticks (optional), for antennae

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the Oreos in a food processor and pulse until you get fine crumbs. If you don’t have a processor, put cookies in a sealed bag and crush them with a rolling pin until finely ground.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: Transfer Oreo crumbs to a bowl and blend with softened cream cheese until the mixture is smooth and sticks together easily.
  3. Shape the Balls: Using your hands or a cookie scoop, form the mixture into small, even balls about 1 inch in diameter, then place them on a parchment-lined tray.
  4. Chill the Balls: Refrigerate the shaped balls for at least 30 minutes to help them firm up before coating.
  5. Melt the Green Candy Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt green candy melts in short bursts, stirring frequently until smooth and silky.
  6. Dip the Balls: Gently dip chilled balls in the melted green coating, tapping off excess, and place them back on the parchment paper to set.
  7. Add Festive Touches: While the coating is still wet, sprinkle red sugar sprinkles to mimic the Santa hat’s pom-pom and add miniature pretzel sticks for antennae if desired.
  8. Let Them Set: Allow the coated balls to fully harden at room temperature, or speed up the process by refrigerating for 10-15 minutes.

Notes

  • Use cold cream cheese for better blending and texture.
  • Don’t overmix the Oreo and cream cheese mixture to avoid soft balls.
  • If candy melts thicken, gently reheat before dipping to avoid clumps.
  • Place balls on parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Work quickly when dipping since candy melts harden fast for a smooth finish.
