The buttery, garlicky sauce highlights the natural richness of salmon, complemented by fresh lemon juice and parsley for brightness.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 fresh salmon fillets (skin-on or skinless, about 6 ounces each)

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
  • 3 garlic cloves, freshly minced
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Seasoning

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon Fillets: Pat your salmon dry with paper towels to ensure a crisp sear. Lightly season both sides with salt and pepper to develop a flavorful crust when cooked.
  2. Sear the Salmon: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place salmon fillets skin-side down (if applicable) and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes until the skin is crisp and golden. Flip and cook the other side for an additional 3 minutes. Remove salmon from the pan and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter Parmesan Sauce: Reduce heat to medium, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan. Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Then, sprinkle in the grated Parmesan cheese and stir until it melts into a creamy sauce.
  4. Combine Salmon with Sauce: Return the salmon fillets to the pan, spooning the garlic butter Parmesan sauce over the top. Let everything cook together for another 1 to 2 minutes so the flavors meld beautifully.
  5. Finish with Lemon and Parsley: Just before serving, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the salmon and garnish with chopped parsley. This adds brightness and a fresh herbal note, rounding out the richness perfectly.

Notes

  • Pat dry the salmon to ensure better browning and to prevent steaming in the pan.
  • Use fresh garlic for a more vibrant flavor compared to pre-minced options.
  • Don’t overcook the salmon; aim for a tender pink center to keep it moist.
  • Allow salmon fillets to come to room temperature before cooking for even cooking results.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or well-seasoned pan for easier flipping and cleaning while preserving the crust.
