Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed as per package instructions)

Sauce and Toppings

  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 2025 pepperoni slices (or preferred alternative)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Seasoning and Finishing

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Puff Pastry: Begin by thawing your puff pastry sheets according to package instructions and preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pastry slightly on a floured surface to smooth out any creases, then cut the sheet into 1.5-inch wide strips. These strips will form the foundation of your rose petals.
  2. Add Sauce and Toppings: Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce evenly along one half of each pastry strip. Then, place pepperoni slices along the entire strip, ensuring they slightly overlap for the rose effect. Follow up by sprinkling mozzarella cheese generously over the top and dusting on your Italian seasoning.
  3. Shape the Roses: Starting at one end, carefully fold the dough strip lengthwise over the toppings so the sauce and cheese are partly covered. Gently roll the folded strip upward from one end to form a spiral shape that resembles a blooming rose. Secure the end underneath to keep the rose intact during baking.
  4. Bake Until Golden: Place the rolled pizza roses into a greased muffin tin or baking dish. Brush the petals with olive oil for a glistening finish and sprinkle a bit of grated Parmesan cheese on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the Easy Pizza Roses to cool slightly before removing them from the tin to prevent breaking. Serve warm as an irresistible appetizer or party snack.

Notes

  • Keep Puff Pastry Cold: Chill the pastry before cutting and handling to prevent it from becoming too soft or sticky.
  • Don’t Overfill: Use a moderate amount of sauce and toppings to ensure the strip can fold and roll properly without tearing.
  • Overlap Pepperoni: Slightly overlap pepperoni slices to mimic natural rose petals for maximum visual impact.
  • Use a Muffin Tin: Baking roses in a muffin tin keeps their shape neat and allows even cooking.
  • Watch Baking Time: Keep an eye toward the last few minutes to avoid burning while ensuring crispy golden edges.
