Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, combine 1 lb ground beef or turkey with 1 tsp Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into 4 to 6 oz even-sized patties, pressing a small dent in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.
  2. Cook the Patties: Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until desired doneness. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Add Pizza Sauce and Cheese: Return patties to the pan or place on a baking sheet. Spoon generous amounts of pizza sauce over each patty and layer with fresh or shredded mozzarella cheese.
  4. Melt the Cheese: Cover skillet with a lid or transfer patties to a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes until mozzarella melts and bubbles.
