Ingredients

Scale

S’mores Base

  • Graham Crackers (enough to make sandwiches)
  • Marshmallows (large or mini, about 1-2 per s’more)
  • Chocolate Bars or Chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate, about 1-2 pieces per s’more)

Batter

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Milk or Buttermilk
  • 1 Egg

Frying

  • Vegetable Oil (enough for deep frying, about 4 cups)

Optional Toppings

  • Powdered Sugar (for dusting)
  • Chocolate or Caramel Sauce (for drizzling)
  • Chopped Nuts (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the S’mores: Layer a piece of chocolate and a marshmallow between two graham cracker squares, pressing gently to secure the sandwich without breaking the crackers.
  2. Make the Batter: In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 egg, and 1 cup of milk or buttermilk until smooth and free of lumps. The batter should be thick enough to coat but fluid enough for easy dipping.
  3. Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into a deep frying pan or pot and heat to 350°F (175°C). Maintaining this temperature ensures a crisp batter and prevents sogginess.
  4. Coat and Fry: Dip each s’mores sandwich fully into the batter to coat, then carefully lower it into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crunchy.
  5. Drain and Serve: Remove the fried s’mores from the oil using a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm for gooey, melty perfection.

Notes

  • Keep the oil consistently at 350°F to ensure even cooking without greasy results.
  • Use fresh, clean oil for the best flavor and crispiness.
  • Avoid overfilling the s’mores to allow proper melting inside.
  • Handle fried treats carefully as they are hot and melty; use tongs or a slotted spoon.
  • Serve immediately after frying for the best gooey texture.
