Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) canned tuna, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Topping

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Seasonings & Others

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion or 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Boil the egg noodles in salted water until just tender (al dente) to ensure they hold their shape during baking. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In a large mixing bowl, combine the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, and shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until the mixture is smooth and cheesy.
  3. Mix the casserole: Add the drained tuna, frozen peas, cooked noodles, and chopped onion (or onion powder) to the sauce. Season with salt and pepper, then gently fold all ingredients together until evenly combined.
  4. Assemble and top: Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Melt the butter and mix it with breadcrumbs to create a golden crunchy topping. Sprinkle this evenly over the casserole.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.

Notes

  • Drain tuna well to prevent excess liquid and soggy casserole.
  • Do not overcook noodles; undercooked noodles maintain texture during baking.
  • Use good quality cheddar cheese for better flavor and smooth melting.
  • Let the casserole rest for a few minutes after baking to allow flavors to settle and improve texture.
  • Add a dash of paprika or garlic powder for added flavor depth if desired.
