Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk slightly and combine it with the yeast and a pinch of sugar to activate the yeast. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Knead until a smooth, elastic dough forms. Place the dough in a warm area and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  2. Make the Cinnamon Swirl Filling: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and optional nutmeg until evenly combined. This mixture will form the sweet cinnamon swirl inside the bread.
  3. Roll Out and Layer the Dough: Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Evenly spread the cinnamon sugar mixture over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
